Holbeck knows how to party! 13 of the area’s community groups got together over the Jubilee weekend to hold a party.

Organiser Ian Pickup tells South Leeds Life that the event, in St Matthew’s Community Centre, had a visitor in the form of the Deputy Lord Lieutenant Major Stan Hardy.  Hilary Benn MP and his wife also attended. All partygoers got a souvenir jubilee mug.

Meanwhile, residents at Beeston sustainable development Greenhouse also came together to celebrate the Jubilee, enjoying a garden party in the courtyard with their neighbours.

With a BBQ, tea-pot cocktails, garden games, an abundance of home baking, impromtu musical performances from guitar players amongst the group, and a visit from the ‘Queen’ herself a great afternoon was had by all.

Don’t forget, you can share your Jubilee photos on our Flickr group pool or email them to southleedslife@gmail.com.
