Holbeck kept it local last night (4 November 2014) for their firework display, by bringing another fantastic event to the community for a second year running.
Held in the car park of the Holbeck Working Mens Club, over 100 people families ventured out into the cold night to join in the friendly atmosphere.
The evening saw volunteers from Holbeck Christian Fellowship serve hot dogs and pie and mushy peas inside the club. Volunteers behind the bar supported club, by serving people well past the time the fireworks had ended.
Local organiser Dennis Kitchen, worked with Keepmoat to find out best location for the display. Health for All (Holbeck comunity centre) brought in four lads from the Prince’s Trust to help get the fireworks off to a flying start.
As I walked round the corner of Jenkinson Close I could see the rockets fly skywards from behind the backdrop of the scaffolding of Keepmoat construction site. Maybe next year they’ll be more people from these houses to join this vibrant community event?
