Harry the Hawk’s Happy Hour a great success

On Friday (31 January 2014) South Leeds Development Officer Lois held ‘Harry the Hawk’s Happy Hour’ at the Hunslet Club.

Harry Hawk Happy Hour

The session was aimed to recruit new players for the Hunslet Parkside Academy tots and U7’s. Lois has been working within five local primary schools in South Leeds: Windmill Primary, Middleton Primary, Sharp Lane Primary, Clapgate Primary and St Philips Primary coaching them for four weeks and inviting them all to attend ‘Harry the Hawks’ Happy Hour’ once the sessions had come to an end.

The children in year one and year two loved playing rugby league within their PE lessons and all now know lots about the skills involved in rugby league. The children loved scoring tries and getting their team four points! The children were also very excited to meet Harry the Hawk and couldn’t wait to come to the session and get his autograph.

Thirty four children aged between five and seven attended ‘Harry the Hawks’ Happy Hour’ at Hunslet Club and enjoyed playing lots of fun games and met Harry the Hawk! Harry gave out autographs and had pictures taken and the children loved it, especially when he joined in the relays with them!

The session was very successful for Hunslet Club Parkside Academy and coach Paul Thorpe commented:

“It has been great for us tonight and we really appreciate all the hard work Lois has put in. It is amazing how many kids are down here tonight and we look forward to seeing them at training next week.”
