Gypsies’ Easter generosity

A group of Gypsy and Traveller women from community organision Leeds GATE, got together today (18 April 2019) to raise funds for Easter Eggs to donate to the Children’s Ward at Leeds General Infirmary.

The Thursday group who meet each week at GATE had heard about other similar donations that were going on and wanted to play their part.

They arrived at LGI with over 30 eggs for some of the young people who will be spending their Easter in hospital.

“It’s just nice to send a little message to all the children at LGI that we are thinking of them this Easter” said Mags Price, who is a volunteer at GATE.

Kirsty Rouke who also works at GATE said that she was surprised when we arrived at Clarendon Wing just how many people had donated presents “it’s a lovely thing to do” she said.
