Full fibre broadband arrives in South Leeds

South Leeds has become the latest location to receive Vodafone’s full-fibre broadband service. Homes and small businesses are now able to experience some of the fastest internet access speeds available in the UK.

Unlike most home broadband services based on old telephone lines, Vodafone Gigafast Broadband uses all optical-fibre cables at every stage of the connection. As a result, customers can enjoy download speeds 16 times faster, and upload speeds 125 times faster, than the average fixed broadband service in the UK.

Leeds goes live under Vodafone’s plan to bring Gigafast Broadband to at least 15 UK towns and cities during 2020. Vodafone is facilitating an acceleration of the build out of new full-fibre networks through its partnerships with network infrastructure companies CityFibre and Openreach.

Vodafone Gigafast Broadband is ideal for small businesses who need fast access to the Internet and cloud-based hosting services, as well as consumers with busy households and multiple people online streaming movies, games and music at the same time.

Rebecca Lowe from Hunslet was one of the first customers to sign up to Vodafone’s full-fibre in Leeds. Rebecca and her family signed up for the 900mpbs service after experiencing problems using mulitple devices in their existing connection. Rebecca explained:

“Our previous broadband service was extremely slow especially during evenings and weekends. It made watching streaming services impossible, as they would take hours to load.

“The difference with Vodafone Gigafast Broadband was immediate. Watching our Smart TV is a much better experience and everyone can still use other devices without issues. It has saved us all more time as previously we would have been forced to wait for the internet connection to catch up.”
