Free Makaton sessions at Hunslet Club boost inclusivity

The Hunslet Club is proud to be offering free Makaton sessions as part of its Junior Youth Club, helping to promote inclusivity and communication among young people in a fun and supportive environment.

Held during Junior Youth Club sessions, which run on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:30-8pm, the sessions give 8–12-year-olds the opportunity to learn Makaton—a unique language programme that uses signs and symbols alongside speech—encouraging new ways to communicate and connect with others.

The initiative is already having a positive impact, with young people building confidence, developing new skills, and gaining a greater understanding of others, all while enjoying time with their friends.

Junior Youth Club is free to attend, making it accessible for all young people in the community.
