Festival fun scheduled at Hunslet

Hundreds of young rugby players line up in front of the rugby posts at Hunslet Warriors

Hunslet Rugby League club is setting in motion a repeat of their hugely successful Junior Summer Festival, which attracted teams from throughout the north of England when it debuted last year.

A new venue is being organised for 2023, with Leeds Corinthians of Middleton set to host the event.

The complex – which is, historically, a Rugby League ground, Middleton Arms and Thorpe having been based at the famous Nutty Slack for many years – will buzz to youth and junior activity on Sunday 6 August 2023.

Hunslet Foundation’s General Manager Mikey Nuttall, who is once again administering the festival, said:

“Most if not all of the teams that enjoyed themselves so much last year are returning, from as far afield as Hull and Wigan as well as more locally, while there’s also strong interest from a side in Sheffield.

“And, in response to demand, we’re adding an Under 11s tournament to those already in place for Under 10s, Under 9s, Under 8s and Under 7s. The Under 9s, in fact, is already full booked, but there are two or three vacancies at each of the other age groups.”

Clubs interested in taking part should email Nuttall at Michael.nuttall@hunsletrugbyfoundation.co.uk
