Climbing England’s highest peak – Scafell Pike in the Lake District – is a challenge at the best of times, but Ellis Robinson from Belle Isle is taking it to a new level. Ellis has set himself the challenge of climbing it as many times as possible in 24 hours.
He will be tackling the 978m (3,209 ft) peak starting from Wasdale Head car park at 12noon on Friday 22 July. On reaching the summit cairn, he’ll turn around and head back down, then back up and so on until 12noon on Saturday 23 July.
Explaining his motivation for the fundraising he said:
“I’ve decided to raise money for The Candlelighters charity which is for children with cancer. The reason I have chosen this charity is because I have seen what this can do to families first hand and couldn’t imagine this happening to myself.
“This charity is massively important in helping families who have a child suffering with the dreaded C.”
