Davina supports Beeston pupils’ party

Parents organising a leaving party for Year 6 children at Beeston Primary School on Saturday afternoon (8 July 2017) have received support from Davina McCall, following a parent’s appearance on her Long Lost Families TV show.

Party organisers: Marisa Moorhouse, Elizabeth Elliott, Jennifer Iball & Trudi Carlill

Davina joined a range of local businesses and families that have rallied round to support the event, responding to the request with a donation of £100

Trudi Carlill, one of the parents explained:

“We felt that the children deserve a big send off, after a stressful couple of months preparing, and completing their SATs, and some of the kids are going to completely different high schools, so this is like a goodbye party too.”

The group set up a crowdfunding page which has raised £245 towards the cost of the party. The Old White Hart has made its function room available and is supplying soft drinks, as is the Old Peacock pub on Elland Road. DJ Phil Hart has offered his services both free of charge and photographer Kirsty Marks is giving her services at a reduced price.

Local parent, Zoey Collinson-Smith is donating a candy cart fully stocked, free of charge, even though her child left the school last year. Cakes are being provided by mum Asiya Hussein and by Jackie Mann, one of the children’s grandmother. The Co-op has stepped in to provide food.

A banner has been donated by Amanda Horseman whilst decorations for the room have come from JAKs Clearance shop. Finally, Andy Butler from Carpets R Us has donated a red carpet to make sure the children feel special as they arrive on Saturday.

Trudi Carlill added:

“This has been a fantastic community response. All the parents are contributing something and local businesses have supported us magnificently.

“On behalf of the organisers and the children, I really want to thank everyone so much for their help and support.”
