Councillors welcome improvements to Cottingley Vale Roof

Work will start in the coming weeks to replace damaged sections of the Cottingley Vale shopping arcade roof, which covers amenities to the surrounding community.

Local Councillors Gohar Almass, Andrew Scopes and Angela Gabriel have all welcomed the long-awaited work which will see an investment of circa. £100,000 to fully replace elements of the roof, with additional measures installed to prevent further instances of vandalism and damage.

When complete, the repairs will not only provide additional security to the residents and businesses who use the facilities, but also a safer building to those in the local area.

Councillor Gohar Almass, (Labour, Beeston and Holbeck) said:

“We’ve been working hard to push for improvements and we’re delighted to see that work will be starting imminently to replace parts of the roof and protect it from future damage.

“Local residents and businesses in the community will be reassured knowing that following these works, the roof will not only be a lot safer, but additional security will deter further attempts of vandalism.”

  1. What a waste of money that is. The place needs knocking down its falling to bits, I don’t understand why it hasn’t been replaced with a nice row of shops or something. The area defiantly needs updating it’s like it has been forgotten about. It would benefit so much to have a Co-op, Hair dressers or even a chip shop.

  2. £100k for abit of liquid rubber paint! they have had your pants down there. place needs demolishing it looks like its not been touched since the 80s. Have the council forgotten about the area? place needs a serious reverb.
