Council Roadsign Is Past Its Sell By Date

Today’s picture is taken from the roadside on the A639 in Stourton just before junction 44 on the M1.

April roadworks

Look at the year construction is expected and then think about today’s date.

Before this sign was put up there was one saying construction was expected in 2011 and that was visible well into 2012.

How many drivers go past this sign on a daily basis? How many work for Leeds City Council??

So the only conclusion I can reach is that it’s an April Fool so no doubt after midday the sign will read “Construction Expected 2013” or perhaps to save re-doing the sign each year it will say “2014 or 2015” …

  1. Almost as bad as all the prominently displayed signs still leading people to the Tetleys Brewery Wharf, closed as a tourist attraction long before the whole thing has been bulldozed. How many people drive past those every day? Why not replace with some directing to tourist attractions still open? Tourism chiefs missing a trick there…

  2. More power to South Leeds Life! I went past the signs on Monday and I see construction is now expected in 2013!! Sorry I didn’t take a picture but it’s a difficult place to stop and I was 5 hours behind schedule at the time…

So will construction take place this year?? A city waits…
