Staff and pupils organised a community fair at Hunslet Moor primary school in Beeston as a thank you to departing Headteacher Mrs Narinder Gill.
Mrs Gill will be leaving the school at the end of this term and the school community were keen to thank her for her work in raising standards at the school over the last few years. The fair was organised without her knowledge and the surprise was kept up to the last minute with no staff or pupil letting on.
Mrs Gill was clearly moved by and delighted by the event. Speaking to South Leeds life she said:
“This is the best send off I could have. The community is the key to this school’s success and it’s great to see everyone here today.”
Mrs Gill is leaving education after 23 years and three headships to focus on working with older people. Hannah Darley who is currently the Deputy Headteacher will replace Mrs Gill in September.
Jeremy, you really captured the atmosphere of the day. We all had a brilliant time. Thanks for coming I think we did Narinder proud!
