Despite the cold, well over 100 people saw Cllr David Congreve switch on the Christmas lights outside the Co-op on Town Street yesterday evening.
After singing a couple of carols the crowd went over the road to the Beeston Parish Centre where mulled fruit juice, burgers and hot dogs were served to all while a magician entertained us with his tricks and a singer accompanied herself on the guitar.
Cllr Congreve said: “It’s really great to see representatives of a number of different community groups, and the church working together with local councillors so that so many people can come along and have a good time. I look forward to seeing lots of people when the lights are switched on in Holbeck.”
The Christmas lights will be switched on in Holbeck on Saturday at 4.00pm by St Matthew’s Community Centre – refreshments will be provided.
Sadly I couldn’t make the switch on due to work. But my partner went and said it was a great turn out.
i really hope this becomes an annual event. Great stuff 🙂
I think this is going to be an annual event and hopefully the lights will get bigger and bigger.
I really enjoyed last night. Hopefully so did others – let me know your thoughts?
