Boosting confidence at Northern College

Asha Neighbourhood Centre‘s Better Together women’s group members completed a three day confidence and motivation skills course at the Northern College in Barnsley.

The women learned to become more confident in dealing with difficult situations and in everyday living and to have more motivation to cope and succeed. Their children took part in Health and Well-being activities at the Northern college children’s centre.

The group members learned to speak up confidently and to be more assertive. They learned about listening, communication, team work, group discussion, stress and stress management skills.

In the evenings with their children they took part in Jewellery making, designing tee-shirts and explored the history of the Wentworth Castle, where the college is based.

Sarul Begum, a mother of five said:

“What a lovely place to spend the week learning with children. I would love to comeback for another course.”

Noor Aljanabi, a mother of one added:

“A beautiful experience, I hope we have another learning opportunity at the college.”
