Body recovered from River Aire at Stourton

Police searching the River Aire in Leeds have recovered a body that is believed to be a missing man.

Shortly after 11am today (13 July 2020) officers found the body in the water in the vicinity of Skelton Grange Road, Stourton.

While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Finley Jones, aged 21, who was reported missing from an address in Leeds city centre on Saturday 4 July.

His family have been informed and the Coroner’s Office has been notified. There are no suspicious circumstances.

  1. I’m devastated. I taught this boy and stayed in touch with him regularly. He was a remarkable soul. Deeply spiritual and creative. A uniquely talented songwriter and social commentator. I am just so sad. Truly heartbroken.
