Beeston Hill to mark Remembrance Day in new community garden

Residents of Beeston Hill will, alongside children from local primary schools, be marking Remembrance Day this Tuesday (11 November 2014) – in the new community garden taking shape outside the unused Holy Spirit church building on Tempest Road.

The short event will be led by local vicar Rev Lindsey Pearson of St Mary’s Beeston. She says she hopes it “will both honour the sacrifices made by local men and women in wars through the years – but also seek to question the power of war, and inspire us to work together for a world beyond violence.”

The short ceremony is open to the public, starts at 10.45am, and will feature a minute’s silence at 11am. It’s the first event to take place in the newly-cleared community garden that local residents and others have been working hard on over the past month.
