Beeston community picnic a great success

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to Cross Flatts Park for the community picnic organised by Beeston Hill Community Association last Sunday (7 June 2026). We had around 100 people join us for some great food, chat, and games in the sunshine.

All the veggie food was completely cleared out, so absolutely nothing went to waste! A massive shoutout to local residents Dax Hewitt, Usma Ejaz and Brandon Fox for supporting the event and to our local councillors Paul Wray (Labour, Hunslet & Riverside), Ed Carlisle (Green, Hunslet & Riverside), and Matt Rogan (Green, Beeston & Holbeck) for helping us fund it. Paul even managed to tuck into our food before heading off for his mum’s Sunday roast!

The kids had a blast with the free skipping ropes and bubbles, balls and it was lovely seeing them all playing and making new friends. Even the adults got involved thanks to Brandon Fox hand making those brilliant giant skipping ropes! It was just a really nice day bringing the neighbourhood together.

So, save the date for the next one – Sunday 26 July, 2-4pm – Cross Flatts Park outside the Watsonia. Everyone is welcome. Just bring a vegetarian dish to share and come say hello.
