Fighting and winning runs in the Crosby family. We have reported previously on Tom “The Viking” Crosby’s sporting career in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA, also known as Cage Fighting), but now Tom’s 5 year old daughter Blossom has joined the fray.
Last month Blossom won the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) British Open (Pee Wee 1 White Belt) at the Bodypower Expo at the NEC in Birmingham. This success follows wins at the BJJ Junior National Championships in March at Wolverhampton and double Gold at the All stars BJJ Open in Manchester in April where she competed with 6 and 7 year olds.
Blossom trains four times a week at gyms in Morley and Pontefract. As well as MMA, Tom trains her in BJJ along with Helen Currie, Britain’s first female BJJ Black Belt; and Louise Lee Scott trains her in Thai Boxing.
Meanwhile Dad Tom (a child minder by day) is doing pretty well himself. In April he won his bout against Jacek Rolinski at the Ultra MMA by a unanimous decision of the judges. All proceeds from the event went to Cancer Research UK.
In May Tom competed at the Risk Fighting Championships, where he beat Steve “Wonderboy” Webster in the first round. That takes his record as a professional Mixed Martial Artist to four fights and four wins.
His next fight is for a British title on Caged Steel Fighting Championship at Sheffield’s Fly DSA Arena on 13 July 2019.
