Spring activities at Skelton Grange Environment Centre

Budding sculptors can join two workshops down at Skelton Grange Environment Centre in Stourton this month.

On Friday (17 May 2019) Master Willow Weaver Phil Bradley will lead a Willow Hare sculpture workshop from 10am-4pm. During the day you will learn to create a willow sculpture of your own and all materials and tools will be provided.

Then on Saturday 18 May you can make your own small wire bird. This workshop is led by Chris Moss.

If you have a love of words, don’t miss Lost Words on Monday 20 May. Jon Cree will be looking at the words that describe the natural world and that are sadly disappearing from the language. This will be a day of sketching, creative writing and oral word-smithing.

For the youngsters, there are two Bushcraft Days on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 May during half term week. The days, for 8-13 year olds feature such activities as shelter building, fire lighting, campfire cooking and field games.

Finally, the centre holds a Nature Activity Day for families and childminders each month. This is a chance to come and explore the lovely nature area independently, and see how things change throughout the year. The next session is on Monday 13 May
