South Leeds youth charity re:establish are this Friday (14 December 2018) holding a fundraising party for their latest trip to Sierra Leone in west Africa – and everyone’s invited.
The event runs from 7pm at Dewsbury Road Social Club in Beeston, and will feature live music and a DJ, food, open mic, games and raffles, and more. Tickets are £2 for adults, £1 for kids, and £5 for families. Click here for full info.
Since 2005, over 40 local teens have travelled out in groups to this small west African country, to volunteer with charities there. They have worked alongside locals there on building schemes, kids projects, community programmes, and more. The testimonies of young people who have attended speak of collaboration, growth and learning, having their eyes opened, and their lives changed. They are planning their latest trip for February 2019.
Local mum and chair of St. Luke’s Tenants and Residents Association – Amanda Walker, a volunteer with re:establish and one of those coordinating the trip, commented:
“We just want to thank everyone supporting us with donations, table-top sales, and this Christmas fundraiser party. I’m truly grateful for being part of a great team, and we all hope the youngsters have an amazing time over in Sierre Leone in February. We can’t wait to see the pictures and hear their stories.”
