Knowing many of their members can’t get away for a holiday, Trinity Network created a holiday at home over three days in Belle Isle.
On day one members were treated to a day at the seaside including fish and chips, sandcastles, a wurlitzer, ice creams and if not donkey rides, at least donkey patting.
Day two started with games and bowling followed by a trip to cinema in the afternoon.
Cabaret was the theme of the third day. There was a Mocktail Bar, games, an entertainer and waitress service at lunch. Prizes were awarded for the best dressed member.
Everyone had a lot of fun, but there was a serious point behind it as a member called Margaret explained: “I’m bad with my mobility, I can’t go away – this is my holiday.”
Trinity Network provide hot meals, activities, advice and support to older people in South Leeds from their two bases at Nesfield Road in Belle Isle and the URC Church Hall on Oakley View, off Dewsbury Road in Beeston.
