JAKS discount store on Cardinal Road in Beeston has been open six months. In that time owner Jaspal (Jazz) Gill says he’s built up a great relationship with the local community.
This is a local shop with a difference specialising in clearance, convenience, off license and all things party.
The shop specialises in selling in-date goods at discount prices. As Jazz and his wife, Aman, build the business new lines are added such as the recent addition of an off licence section.
Jazz says he’s had problems in his life and knows what it’s like when money is short. As a child he suffered from Menigitis which left him in a coma. Then a series of operations on his back and ankle saw him in and out of hospital.
Later on he suffered with a drink problem which he’s now beaten. Now he’s on a mission to keep both the essentials and the celebratory goods affordable for everyone.
You can save money on clearance items, from just 20p, or buy in bulk. Staples such as bread, eggs and milk sell for just 85p (including Warburtons). All alcohol products sell below the recommended retail price.
The store features a party shop with everything for your special event: balloons, cards, gift boxes and much more. JAKS came to the rescue of mums organising a leaving party for children from Beeston Primary School in July, donating decorations for the room.
Jazz and Aman take pride in providing excellent service. As parents of a young child themselves, they have ensured the shop is buggy-friendly with level access and wide aisles. Customers seem to agree judging by the 5 star reviews on their Facebook page.
With Christmas approaching JAKS is taking bulk orders for your seasonal needs, which can be delivered to your door.
The shop is open seven days a week: Monday to Friday 8am-8pm; Saturday and Sunday 9am-8pm. The shop will even be open on Christmas Day in case you forget or run out of something important.
A final message from JAKS, JAKS Wife & Baby JAK: “We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”
Recently stocked with beer for Christmas at Jaks and his wife home made curries. Fantastic value and authentic. Will be there again tomorrow .
