As the schools go back this week, we have news of adult courses being offered by community education provider Vera Media this autumn in Leeds 11.
ESOL for Women, taking place at the Salvation Army Centre in Hunslet Hall Road, or the Asha Neighbourhood Centre, or Ingram Road Primary School
Creative Media for Adults with learning difficulties or disabilities, at various venues
Introduction to Sewing for Women, at the Asha Neighbourhood Centre
Get Cooking – Learn to cook low-cost, healthy meals: a course for asylum seekers and refugees, at the Beeston Parish Centre opposite the Co-Op.
The courses are all FREE for most people on a low income. Specifically: anyone on any sort of means-tested benefit (including working tax credit) or who is a dependant of someone in this situation; who is disabled; has a learning difficulty or disability; is an asylum seeker; is on no/a very low income.
All the courses run for one weekly 2-2.5 hour session for 10 or 11 weeks, and start towards the end of September. They are open to people aged 19 or above, there is no upper age limit. Some courses at Asha offer a creche for children under 5.
