The Beeston Hill and Holbeck housing regeneration project took another step forward this week with work starting on the first of 275 new build homes.
Sc4l are developing a mix of 47 one and two bedroom properties across the three sites at Folly Lane, Coupland Place and Malvern Road in Beeston Hill.
The Housing Regeneration Project is part of a wider Council House Growth Programme that will see the council building new homes for the first time in decades, and increase council housing stock by more than 1000 new homes.

Councillor Peter Gruen, Leeds City Council executive board member with responsibility for neighbourhoods, planning and support services, said:
“It is a very exciting year for council housing in Leeds this year, as we will see the beginning of the build of almost 1000 new homes in the city – the largest growth of council houses in Leeds for a number of decades.
“The housing regeneration project, alongside the council house growth project which the council is leading on will bring many, much needed council houses to the city. I’m determined to see us provide the affordable housing in Leeds which means people on modest incomes have access to high quality, reasonably priced housing.”

Meanwhile Unity Housing Association is pressing ahead with its development of 40 affordable homes at Brown Lane East in Holbeck. The scheme will include two, three and four bedroom houses and flats for rent or shared ownership.
Instead of building more houses we could do with a supermarket. There are a lot of elderly people in Holbeck who could benefit from a shop a lot, can’t get far or afford the local corner shops.
