
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week with the Middleton Pop Up Market. You’ll find lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewelery, soaps and food; all made by local people at Middleton Park Circus from 10am-2pm.
Over in Belle Isle Trinity Network host their Community Reflections Café on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG
It’s The Hunslet Club Summer Gala on Saturday from 12pm at The Hunslet Club Sports Village, LS10 2AT (The Oval, opposite Morrisons). Visitors can look forward to a wide range of attractions suitable for all ages, including fairground rides, inflatables, children’s activities, games, stalls, and raffles. There will also be a variety of food options available, including a barbecue and food stalls, alongside performances and showcases from Hunslet Club members.
Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s First XI play Gomersal CC on Saturday at 12pm. The home fixture is at their ground on Gipsy Lane, opposite Cockburn School, LS11 5TT.
Join Better Beeston for a community litter pick. Meet on Lady Pit Lane at the junction with Stratford Street at 1pm, equipment provided. STOP PRESS: the time has been moved to 4pm.
Bands in the Park continues on Sunday from 2:30pm at the Watsonia Pavilion in Cross Flatts Park (LS11 7NA). This week the featured band is Amici playing sing-along covers fro the 1960s to today. As usual there will be crafting activities for children with tea and cake served in the pavilion.
The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Mary’s Church, Town Street, Beeston (opposite Morrisons Daily).
On Tuesday evening the Hunslet Moor Residents Forum hold their meeting at the Hunslet Moor Community Hub near the purple tower blocks, starting at 6:30pm.
There is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Thursday they will be at St Matthew’s Community Centre in Holbeck, LS11 9NR from 10am-12pm.
Join Opera North for another free music concert, with free refreshments. Come and listen to a piano and violin duet on Thursday, 12-1pm at the Penny Hill Centre, Church Street, Hunslet, LS10 2AR.
SEN-tastic are hosting a drop-in for parents and carers of children with special educational needs on Thursday. They offer advice, support or just an ear to listen. 12:30-2:30pm at St Luke’s Church on Malvern Road, Beeston Hill, LS11 8PD.
And finally this week, St Luke’s Tenants & Residents Association meet this Thursday at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, LS11 8PD, starting at 6:30pm.
