What’s On Roundup 24 February – 1 March 202

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start this week on the Aire & Clader Navigation where you can watch young rowers competing in trials to represent Yorkshire in a UK-wide competition in April. The racing takes place from 10am-2pm between Leeds Rowing Club‘s boathouse at Thwaite Gate and Woodlesford Lock.

At Beeston Village Community Centre where the Green Futures youth group are holding an open day and cooking workshop on Saturday afternoon, 1-3pm. 11-18 year olds are invited to find out more about the group while enjoying and healthy snacks. The centre is off Town Street, LS11 8DQ.

The New Leeds Rock’n’Roll Club is holding its first gig at The Spinning Wheel, Admiral Street, Beeston, LS11 5NG on Saturday featuring Jack and the Real Deals, doors open 7pm.

Leeds Dads will be holding another free Soft Play session, 10am-12pm on Sunday morning at Little Angels behind the Tommy Wass pub, LS11 7HL. This is for dads and pre-school children and there’s free tea and toast! Book: leedsdads.org/events

As it’s the last Sunday of the month you can take a musical history tour of Old Chapel Studios at Czar Street in Holbeck.

Did you know that every month Holbeck Together host a two-course Sunday lunch at St Matthew’s Community Centre? It’s £5 for the meal – and £3.50 for transport – with home delivery also available. Call to reserve your meal for this Sunday: (0113) 245 5553.

Monday, 10am-2pm is enrolment day for a digital skills course running next month a Cranmore & Raylands Community Centre in Belle Isle, LS10 4AW. The nine week course is designed to give you basic IT skills and improve your confidence with technology.

Join Ranger Heather and a group of volunteers at Holbeck Cemetery on Fairfax Road, LS11 8SY on Wednesday morning at 10am to tidy up the site and carry out gardening tasks. Wear old clothes and strong shoes/boots (not trainers), refreshments, tools, and instructions supplied.

The next Inner South Community Committee is on Wednesday, 1pm at Belle Isle welcome Centre, St John & St Barnabas Church, LS10 3DN. This is a public meeting where you can raise questions or issues directly with your Councillors.

And finally, we will be distributing the October edition of the South Leeds Life newspaper from Wednesday. You can collect a copy from any of these 200 pick up points.
