This month’s free guided walk in Middleton Park is on Sunday (5 March 2023).
This Winter Guided Walk will take in different parts of this very large park depending on the weather, and the conditions under foot. Middleton Woods can be magical in snowy wintery conditions, and somewhat spooky in
mist and fog; and on clear crisp winter days some of the views over Leeds are spectacular; and on a dreary winter’s day there are always remnants of the past to investigate. Middleton Park and woods has a rich historical remains, from an 800 year old boundary ditch to the extensive signs of early mining, to the recently re-discovered Ice-house.
With the mild weather there is more bird activity than normal at the moment, so bring a pair of binoculars along and see what you can spot. Whatever the weather the park provides ample opportunity for an interesting walk.
The walk starts at 1:30pm at the Visitor Centre, Middleton Park, and usually last between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours. Walks in the park may often include muddy or wet wooodland paths, so please wear boots or walking shoes, and appropriate clothing.
