Leeds Urban Bike Park in Middleton has won the coveted Trail Of The Year award in MBR magazine, in association with Sram.
The magazine praised LUBP’s Red Trail which snakes through Middleton Woods for its accessibility and flexibility. Riders are encouraged to ride the trail repeatedly gaining speed and confidence on each outing. The trail, as well as the pump track and BMX track, are free to ride, or you can hire bikes from the centre, which also boasts an excellent cafe.

In his report, Sim Mainey commented:
“Turn up at LUBP on a weekend and the place is rammed. It’s free to park and free to ride and with a BMX track, pumptrack, jump line and a blue and red mountain bike trail, it packs a lot of potential into a relatively small area. The range of riding on offer makes it popular with families of all abilities and backgrounds. It’s a real melting pot of people that helps make mountain biking accessible and a more realistic prospect for many. Carbon full- suspension mountain bikes rub up against rusting BMX wrecks, and it’s fair to say equipment is not always commensurate with ability.”
