Young detectives are getting busy at the library

The Summer Reading Challenge ‘Animal Agents’ has launched across all Leeds Libraries!

Can you help the animal agents solve the clues and crack the codes?

Visit the library three times and read six books this summer and collect fantastic prizes for reading. Smelly stickers and more!

You can borrow up to 20 books with your free library card, it might be David Walliams, Harry Potter, Minecraft books, they have something for everyone!

It’s not too late to join, keep reading and collecting your prizes!

Events have started, including a well-attended ‘Spy Club’ at Beeston and Hunslet Libraries, where children took on the challenge of laser quest, battleship, code cracking and fingerprinting! One child said “This is awesome!”

Rachel Benn (Communities Librarian) said:

“It’s fantastic so many children have already signed up for the Summer Reading Challenge, it’s not too late to join, head down to your local library now and sign up! Help the Animal Agents solve the clues and join in the fun with all of our events!”

Investigating Animals Get up close to some of the wonderful specimens and obects from Leeds Museum’s collection. Be inspired to create your own story based on what you have discovered about the animals’ super powers.

Animal Agents Under 5’s Enter the Detective Agency! The animals have been up to mischief, we need to solve the mystery! Join us for songs, stories and activities. For families with children under 5 year olds.

Garage Band Detectives Create your own detective theme tune using Garage Band on iPad. Look at rhythm basics, create your own drum beats and add rock and hip hop to your tune. 7-12 year olds.

Wednesday 23 August 2-3pm at Hunslet Library

Detective Doodle Box Draw your own spy character, chill out zones and lots of creative activities. 5-12 year olds.
