White Rose marks World Book Day on Thursday

White Rose is hosting a World Book Day celebration this Thursday (1 March 2018) with baby yoga, messy play, and fairytale story workshops – plus a secret literary surprise for eagle-eyed centre visitors.

Working alongside children’s play specialists Boomchikkaboom, White Rose has created a schedule of fun and educational activities to mark the day, taking place from 10am – 6pm. Workshops will include:

  • Three Little Pigs crafting
  • Hansel and Gretel edible cottage-making
  • Goldilocks music and drama sessions
  • Baby massage and yoga tutorials set to classic stories
  • Messy play featuring cloud dough, rainbow spaghetti, and more.

What’s more, the White Rose team will be hiding 30 of their favourite literary classics around the centre on the day – free for visitors to find, enjoy, and share. Titles will include Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney, Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson, and The Day The Crayons Came Home by Drew Daywalt. White Rose encourages people to seek out the books and enjoy them, before passing them on for others to enjoy.

Steven Foster, General Manager at White Rose Shopping Centre, said:

“We’re so excited to celebrate one of our favourite days of the year, World Book Day, at White Rose. We’re a team of book-lovers and we know our visitors will love the fun and creative events we’re putting on.

“We can’t wait to see the reactions from those finding our hidden books. Our hope is that they’re passed on through friends and family so that these stories can be shared again and again.”

Events take place from 10am – 6pm in White Rose’s Central Atrium. To view the full White Rose World Book Day schedule, visit www.white-rose.co.uk
