What’s On Roundup 9-15 March 2024

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

We start on Saturday morning with the Middleton Makers Market, 10am-2pm, at Middleton Park Circus. Lots of lovely handmade items including clothing, jewellery, soaps and food; all made by local people.

St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD is hosting a Table Top Sale on Saturday from 10am-2pm. Grab a bargain and help their Give and Go Green fundraising campaign.

Trinity Network host their Community Café on Saturday 10am-12pm at the United reformed Church, Nesfield Avenue, Belle Isle, LS10 3LG

Read With Dad, 2-3pm on Saturday at Hunslet Community Hub & Library pretty much does what it says on the tin – a chance for Dads to read with their children. There are stories and rhymes, snacks and play, and a craft activity to join in with.

Hunslet ARLFC entertain Lock Lane on Saturday afternoon at The Oval, opposite Morrisons. Kick off is at 2:30pm.

St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston, LS11 8PD, is hosting a free Sunday Breakfast at 9:30am, everyone is welcome to join them for good food and good company.

On Sunday you are invited to fly your kite on International Women’s Day and in solidarity with the people of Gaza. The event takes place at the top of Cross Flatts Park in Beeston from 11am. Bring your own kite, or make one yourself, see link for instructions.

The South Leeds Community Kitchen will be cooking up a free meal on Sunday, 4-5:45pm, at St Luke’s Church, Malvern Road, Beeston Hill.

On Monday you can enjoy BasementArtsProject’s latest exhibition, Lost Portals. The free preview session is open to everyone and runs from 5:30-8:30pm at 28 Back Burton Terrace in Beeston, LS11 5JH.

There are three chances to catch up with PCSOs from the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team this week. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub and Library, off Church Street; on Wednesday they will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library; and on Thursday at Beeston Community Hub and Library, Town Street. Each drop in session runs 10am-12pm. Additionally, the NPT Contact Van will be outside St Matthew’s Community Centre in Holbeck on Wednesday from 10:30am-12pm.

As part of Leeds Litery Festival, Bethan Woollvin author of Luna and the Sky Dragon will be at Beeston Community Hub and Library on Wednesday, 4pm-5pm. The event is free, but you will need a ticket from: www.ticketsource.co.uk/leedslibraryevents

Cottingley residents can join the Cottingley Hall TRAC meeting on Wednesday ay 6pm at Cottingley Community Centre. The police, local councillors, housing engagement officer, have all been invited.

And finally, Holbeck Together are hosting a Wellbeing Breakfast Morning on Thursday 10-11am at St Matthew’s Community Centre, LS11 9NR. As well as a healthy breakfast you can get advice from health and other organisations.
