Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.
We start this week at Middleton Park Circus where the monthly Makers Market takes place on Saturday from 10am-2pm. Stalls will be selling all sorts of handmade crafts including confectionery, fashion, soaps, jewellery and samosas.
On Saturday afternoon The Whistlestop pub on Town Street, Beeston is hosting a charity Family Fun Day, raising funds and awareness for mitochondrial disease. Stalls, facepainting, raffles games and an outdoor DJ are promised, 1pm till late.
The Royal Armouries Museum in Hunslet is hosting an international jousting tournament in the tiltyard over the weekend. Tickets (£5-£20) are available for Saturday, Sunday and Monday at 11am and 2pm: book here. The museum itself is free and open every day of the school holidays 10am-5pm.
Middleton Railway is open on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Wednesday this week. Over the weekend you can join an Easter Egg hunt, whilst on Wednesday it’s kids-for-a-quid. Full details at www.middletonrailway.org.uk
On Sunday it’s The Hunslet Club‘s free Easter Party, 12-3pm, everyone welcome. There will be an egg hunt, the Easter Bunny will be there and there’s a prize for the best Easter Bonnet.
Leeds United entertain Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, kick off 2pm. Expect the usual heavy traffic around Beeston before and after the game.
On Monday the Nigerian Yorkshire Communities Network are staging a Family Fun Day Get-Together in Cross Flatts Park, Beeston, from 12-6pm. Everyone is invited to enjoy music, food, bouncy castle, Easter Egg games and quizzes. The event is spomnsored by Leeds Community Foundation.
Free play sessions organised by the Friends of Middleton Park continue on Tuesday with Health for All’s ACE team running multi-sports and games; and on Wednesday DAZL will be running dance activities. Both sessions run 1-3pm at the Visitor Centre by the lake.
LS-TEN, the skateboard park at Kitson Road, Hunslet, LS10 1NT are holding a Get Active Extreme Camp on Friday 14 April, 9am-4pm, £30. Includes games, arts and crafts and a coaching session. Book: ls-ten.org/get-active-camps
