Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

Leeds Dads are hosting another free soft play session at Little Angels Playzone at the Sugar Mill in Beeston (behind the Tommy Wass pub) on Saturday morning 10am-12pm. Free tea and toast provided for Dads and their preschool children.

The Handmade and Homemade Food & Craft Market and table top sale is back at Beeston Parish Centre on Town Street, opposite Nisa on Saturday. You’ll find all sorts of delights from candles and plants to cakes and samosas. The market is open 11:30am-2:30pm.

Hunslet ARLFC entertain Lock Lane on Saturday afternoon at The Oval, opposite Morrisons. Kick off is at 2:30pm.

An afternoon of relaxing activities has been laid on down at Leeds Dock on Saturday. Walk On Aire features yoga, paddleboarding and sketching. Outside the Royal Armouries from 12-5pm.

Breeze in the Park brings giant inflatables, games, crafts and fun to Parkside Field, off Belle Isle Road near Windmill Primary on Saturday afternoon and then to Cross Flatts Park on Tuesday. These are ticketed events, find full details here.

The British Library has been working with local youth charity Re:establish over recent months and on Saturday afternoon they present their Get Creative Summer Showcase at Hillside Enterprise Centre, Beeston Road, LS11 8ND. There will be food and refreshments and activities for all the family, as well as a chance to see some of the creative journey the young people have been on, 1-3pm.

As it’s the last Sunday of the month you can take a musical history tour of Old Chapel Studios at Czar Street in Holbeck.

Sunday afternoon’s guided nature walk will be looking for butterflies especially. Organised by the Friends of Middleton Park, the walk starts from the visitor centre by the lake at 1:30pm. Dress for the weather and expect some muddy paths.

Promotion chasing Hunslet RLFC face top of the table Dewsbury at South Leeds Stadium on Sunday. Kick off is at 3pm, tickets cost £15, £10 concessions and kids under 16 go free.

Celebrating World Breastfeeding Awareness Week, a fun and free family meet up, Bosom Buddies In the Park, takes place in Middleton Park on Tuesday, 10:30am-12:30pm

Leeds Youth Services have organised to free activity days this week. On Tuesday they’re at Blenkinsop Field, Acre Road, Middleton, LS10 4HT. And then on Thursday they’re on the playing fields at Church Street / Grove Road, Hunslet, LS10 2AP. Both events run from 12-3pm

And finally, there are a host of children’s activities this week including:

  • Multi-sports; Japanese crafts and food; baking with chocolate and dance at the Involve Centre in Hunslet
  • Free play sessions in Middleton Park featuring nature art and multi sports
  • Children’s theatre group Wrongsemble present ‘The (Not So) Big Bad Wolf’ with shows in in Holbeck, Beeston and Hunslet
  • Story Book Sports at St George’s Community Hub & Library on Tuesday
  • T-Shirt printing workshop at Leeds Discovery Centre in Hunslet on Wednesday
