What’s On Roundup 18-24 December 2021

Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds. For full listings go over to our What’s On calendar here.

It’s the final Women’s Walk of the year with Your Space on Saturday. They are off to Temple Newsam and there may be wreath making involved. To book call Arlie on 07435 914350.

Canal Connections are running festive boat trips from the Lock Keeper’s House at Leeds Dock (LS10 1LE) on Saturday and Sunday. There will be Christmas crafts and a visit from Santa as well as hot drinks and festive snacks, tickets cost £10.

Leeds United host Arsenal on Saturday at Elland Road. Kick off is at 5:30pm so expect heavy traffic in Beeston before and after the match. If you are attending please check the Covid regulations and take something for the Leeds South & East Foodbank who will be collecting before the game.

Recovery Runners are holding a fun, festive, fancy dress 5k Dock Dash on Sunday at 9am at Leeds Dock. They are also collecting small wrapped gifts (£3 maximum) to donate to local children’s charities. To enter email: recoveryrunners21@gmail.com

Unfortunately, two events on Sunday have been cancelled. The concert by the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra at The Holbeck Club and the comedy night at the Tommy Wass pub organised by Leeds Laughter Lounge.

There are two Christmas Crafting workshops on Wednesday. There’s a family session at lunchtime (12-2pm) at St George’s Community Hub & Library in Middleton. Then at 5pm you can join Your Space for an adult session at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street.

What better way to enjoy Christmas Eve with your little ones than a performance by Children’s Theatre Wrongsemble. They bring their latest show, Tinsel, to Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library at 10:30am. You can also catch the show at Hunslet RLFC on Monday 27th, 2pm and Wednesday 29th at The Holbeck club at 12pm.

And finally, the Beeston Nightriders were due to hold their final lit-up cycle ride on Christmas Eve, but it has been brought forward to tonight (17 December). Meet, with as many lights as you can manage, at the Chaii Shack in the Kashmir supermarket car park off Dewsbury Road at 7pm.
