
Here’s a roundup of some the main events taking place over the coming week in South Leeds.
We start this week at Middleton Railway where Robin Hood will be dropping in! Tickets include entertainment with Grumble Bear, Panto time with Same Difference Theatre, and for the young ones, a fruit drink or water, and a snack, and of course, a train ride. There are two sessions: 10am-1pm or 1-4pm. Booking essential.
Down at Leeds Dock they are holding another Makers’ Market at Fearns on the Boulevard, LS10 1PZ. Discover handmade lino prints, eco-conscious skincare, bespoke illustrations, botanical art and recycled silver jewellery – plus so much more! It’s a treasure trove of fresh discoveries and one-of-a-kind pieces – perfect for a relaxed weekend browse. 10am-4pm.
Beeston Hill Community Association are holding another Family Fun Day at Rowland Road WMC (LS11 6ED) on Saturday from 11am-4pm. The event includes lots of free activities for children including circus skills workshop, owl display and bouncy castle as well as stalls
Saturday sees Hunslet Nelson Cricket Club’s Second XI take on East Ardsley CC at their Gipsy Lane ground, LS11 5TT starting at 12:30pm.
Then from 1-4pm it’s the Belle Isle Repair Café at BITMO’s GATE, LS10 3QH. The fixers, stitchers and kitchen knife sharpeners will be on hand to give your goods a second lease of life. As usual tea and toasties will be on offer.
Hunslet ARLFC entertain Siddal on Saturday afternoon at The Oval, opposite Morrisons. Kick off is at 2:30pm.
On Sunday, the Friends of Middleton Park have organised a guided walk exploring the former South Leeds Golf Club land. Join them at 1:30pm at the Visitor Centor by the lake, off Town Street.
Leeds United entertain Everton as they start their Premiership season on Monday, kicking off at 8pm. You can expect the usual heavy traffic and parking issues around Beeston, Holbeck and Cottingley before and after the match.
There are a host of Police Contact Points this week. This is a chance to raise concerns or ask questions of the Leeds South Neighbourhood Policing Team in an informal setting. On Tuesday they will be at Hunslet Community Hub & Library from 10am-12pm. On Wednesday they are at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library, 10am-12pm and at Ingram Gardens Community Centre from 10am-12pm. Finally they will be at Beeston Community Hub & Library on Town Street on Thursday 10am-12pm.
The RSC, that the Rubbish Shakespeare Company, bring their production of Romeo & Juliet to BITMO’s GATE (LS10 3QH) on Wednesday at 2pm. Described as “Like Horrible Histories, but funnier” the family friendly show is free to BITMO tenants, otherwise £5. Book tickets here.
And finally, Leeds Baby Bank will be at Dewsbury Road Community Hub & Library on Thursday 10am-12pm offering support to people to access support services, community activity and longer-term support. They also gift families an essential top-up of items like nappies, wipes, formula and toiletries.
