Residents of Hunslet have – together with Ed Carlisle from the local Green Party – have launched a campaign for a ‘Welcome to Hunslet’ on Church Street.
Ed commented: “Hunslet has a long proud history, and this is a great idea – from local people – to build community pride. We’ll now be working with a wide range of residents to shape and design it – and of course the Council and other bodies, who might hopefully fund it.”
The debate has taken off on social media with ideas flowing for how to best represent the heritage of the community. The favourite suggestions so far have been railways, rugby and the brewery.
