Visit to Leeds City Museum

In week two of our South Leeds Life Community Correspondents course we learned how to take photos to accompany articles and then went to Leeds City Museum to put what we had learned into practice.

There are a lot of interesting exhibits about the history of Leeds and I was particularly interested in the development of  the woolen industry. Benjamin Gott who lived from 1762 to 1840 founded the first woolen mill in the world here in Leeds.

I also enjoyed looking at early photos of ordinary life in Leeds including suffragettes fighting for the right to vote before World War 1.

There are also some interactive exhibits including trying on wigs from the eighteenth century which attract kids of all ages!
