Nicola Akers from Construction Yorkshire has been in touch with information about a training course for young people aged 16-18 who are not currently in education, employment or training. Here’s her guest post:
We are running these courses in partnership with Morrison who are the contractor delivering the repairs and maintenance contracts for both West North West and Aire Valley Homes and have a commitment to deliver local training and employment initiatives.
The course runs on two days a week for 12 weeks and will lead to a Level 1 Health and Safety Award. On the course you will receive practical training in joinery, plumbing, tiling and manual handling and you will get to work on site with Morrison.
The courses start in October, but then run throughout the year. After the course there will be opportunities to move on to a Foundation Learning course in construction, a full time placement with Morrison and the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship.
If you would like to do the course, or want some more information, please call 0113 881 4810.
