Volunteers from Stourton-based One Subsea made a real difference when they turned out to help clear part of the riverside path and cycleway recently.
On Friday 7 October they cleared the dried silt, left by the Boxing Day floods, off the targeted areas of the cycleway and path near Thwaite Mills. They also cleared litter and debris from the entrance to the cycleway and along the path and edges for several hundred meters and also cut back overhanging vegetation.
John Cummins from Groundwork Leeds, who co-ordinated the effort with the Canal and River Trust and Leeds City Council commented:
“I know that section of towpath quite well and have never seen it looking so well.”
This work builds on several recent clean up days reported here and here on South Leeds Life.
