The new Hunslet Community Hub and library design brings together the wonderful heritage of the building with a modern twist, offering an integrated service with much improved hours of opening and a new Customer Service option to assist the local community with Council enquiries, a new computer suite with self- service PCs alongside our Jobshop offer. All this alongside our fantastic new Library design with many new books with lots of space to study, rest and meet friends.
The Hub will be building on its wider service offer from partners such as the Citizens Advice Leeds, Pathways, and a Police drop-in, and there will be an opportunity for the community and partners to discuss potential area of need at a future focus group.
To find out more about what is going on call in, or visit our social media pages: Twitter – @HunsletHub; Facebook – facebook.com/hunsletcommunityhub
Hunslet Community Hub and Library is located on Waterloo Street, off Church Street, LS10 2NS
Opening hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 9am–5pm
- Tuesday: 10am–5pm
- Saturday: 10am–1pm
Additionally, the Council is undertaking consultation to turn the empty space in front of the hub (see photo in slideshow) into an innovative town square with break off areas creating a new landmark for Leeds.
“We want it to be somewhere at the very heart of Hunslet” said Cllr Mohammed Iqbal. “It needs to be somewhere which is attractive to our residents and also draws customers to the local shops.”
Urban Design students Abbey and Eleasha are leading the consultation and design ideas. They have met with many people in the community and also have a Survey Monkey questionnaire they want people to fill in with ideas. It can be accessed at: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RDRQG5V, or email Leeds City Council’s Communities Team on southeast.ast@leeds.gov.uk for a copy of the survey. We welcome your thoughts.

Can I suggest that addresses are provided when reporting new sites, please?
That’s a very good point and we do try to do that. Apologies that we forgot on this occasion, but we will amend the article to include it.
