The Great Middleton Park Show is on Sunday

No one can deny that Middleton Park plays a massive part in the lives of local people as one of the biggest and oldest parks and woodlands in Leeds with thousands of visitors every year.

The Friends of Middleton Park (FoMP), work tirelessly to improve the park and put on activities and entertainment throughout the summer months.  All events are completely free to attendees.

This year quite appropriately, the theme of The Great Middleton Park Show is Encouraging Everyone to Celebrate Our Park in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Year, and it takes place on Sunday (11 September 2022) 1-4pm.  Show entries must be in the marquee between 8.30am and 11am.

The Produce Show is the heart of the event. In the marquee you will find entries in over 40 classes of fruit, veg, flowers, baking, art, craft and photography.  Hilary Benn MP and the Lord Mayor of Leeds Cllr Bob Gettings will be presenting the trophies at about 3pm.

We have some great entertainment on the day, and you will enjoy the sights and sounds of South Steel and Yorkshire Imperial Bands, Bhangra dancing and Middleton DanceFit, ferret races, donkey rides, birds of prey and have a go bowling, plus games and DJ Danny compering the whole event.

Organised by the Friends, the Show, which started life in 2009 has grown considerably, but remains true to its original aims:

  • To encourage all local residents to enjoy and take pride in their community, their gardens and their park,
  • To encourage all people -including children and schools – to garden, grow their own food and visit the park and its woodlands,
  • We also try to promote environmental awareness and encourage local or homegrown consumption.

As part of our environmental aims we are asking visitors to bring your own reusable beaker and water bottle for drinks – you’ll get a discount at the cafe.

Beyond the produce tent you will find stalls, refreshment and entertainment spread out around the lake, visitor centre and bandstand.

Everyone is welcome to join us for a wonderful afternoon out in our fantastic Park!
