Spring is Springing, Beeston is Blooming!

First the snowdrops in Cross Flatts Park, then the crocus hunt began.

By the Monday monthly meet not only were there crocuses under the window at the Watsonia Pavilion, it was also light enough just after 5 to see them. ( And clear enough because the previous Saturday the area had been given a trim by a work party.)

The AGM part of the meeting re-elected the chair, Angela Gabriel, secretary,Linda Stanley and treasurer,Vivien Bates. The monthly meeting talked about acquiring new concrete planters to go on Town Street, doing something to increase the number of bat and bird boxes in Beeston and what to do with the group of volunteers we’re getting in March.  And of course looked at the the months work parties.

Thursday morning it was the Lodge Lane planter’s turn:

This is Betty who is one of our founder members from 1997:

She started Beeston in Bloom with two friends because they thought it would be nice to have some hanging baskets in Beeston,  Vivienne reported on Monday that we are planning on 80 odd this year. Anyone interested in sponsoring a basket can contact us through the websiteor email beestoninbloom@btinternet.com.

And here are the crocuses:
