Here’s your regular roundup of what’s making South Leeds tick on other websites and blogs.
Beeston In Bloom report over on their blog that volunteers from Eversheds solicitors have been out helping to keep up with the weeding of their city veg project plots in Cross Flatts Park.
The Yorkshire Evening Post has reported a couple of stories about Travelers in South Leeds this week. A temporary site was set up in Holbeck and the Council have plans to upgrade the permanent Cottingley Springs site.
The Guardian reports on a national initiative to help people take up sports in the wake of the Olympics. Looking on the joininuk.org web site, I notice there are football events at Middleton Park FC and Shooting Stars in Beeston, junior tennis at the John Charles Centre plus lots going on over at the Hunslet Club.
Are you as fast as Usain Bolt? Keeping with the post Olympic theme, Leeds City Council report that their Parks Department have marked out running lanes in 19 parks around the city so you can find out. These include Holbeck Moor, Middleton Leisure Centre, Hunslet Lake and Cross Flatts Park (although I’ve failed to locate these last ones).
