Councillors, police and Aire Valley Homes officers will be present at tonight’s meeting to discuss local issues at the Cottingley TRAC group meeting at Cottingley Primary School (7pm). The need to reopen the estate’s post office and a mugging are discussed on the group’s Facebook page.

The Voice of Holbeck group meets tomorrow.

The Friends of Middleton Railway have been boosted by a £2,000 sponsorship cheque for its forthcoming 200 years of  steam events. Leeds Brewery are the kind sponsors.

The YEP reports lives are being put at risk in Belle Isle by hooligans setting light to wheelie bins as a prank – Rothwell NPT has also posted about  it here, with some interesting comments from local residents. There’s also a nice article on the work of Middleton’s Equestrian Centre.

The Friends of Middleton Park have posted on Facebook that Ultimate Military Fitness will be running sessions in the park from 21 June Tuesdays and Thursdays (7-8) and Saturdays 10-11).

Holbeck NPT met with representatives from an amazing number of nationalities on Monday 14 May at Tunstall Road community centre to celebrate the Queens Diamond Jubilee and to build links between the diverse communities in the area and the police.

A community meeting in the Aberfields and Newhalls  area of Belle Isle is reported over at the Rothwell NPT site.
