This weekend will see roadworks around the junction of the A639 Thwaite Gate, Wakefield Road and Pontefract Road to install new road surfacing, white lines and traffic signals.
To allow these works to take place road closures are required. To minimise disruption the works will take place over one weekend starting tonight at 8pm (Friday 5 March 2021) through to 5am on Monday.
Daytime closures
All movements are closed except:
- Outbound (from Leeds) A639 Thwaite Gate to A639 Pontefract Road
- Inbound (towards Leeds) A639 Wakefield Road to A639 Thwaite Gate
The daytime closures will be in place:
- 8am to 7pm on Saturday 6 March
- 9am to 7pm on Sunday 7 March
Daytime diversions
Closure of inbound Pontefract Road from its junction with Queen Street to its junction with Wakefield Road / Thwaite Gate
- Diversion via Queen Street and Wakefield Road
Closure of right turn from Wakefield Road to Pontefract Road
- Diversion via Wakefield Road, Thwaite Gate, Low Road. Old Mill Lane, Old Mill Lane roundabout, Old Mill Lane, Low Road and Thwaite Gate
Closure of right turn from Pontefract Road to Wakefield Road
- Diversion via Queen Street
Closure of right turn from Wakefield Road to Thwaite Lane
- Diversion via Wakefield Road, Thwaite Gate, Low Road. Old Mill Lane, Old Mill Lane roundabout, Old Mill Lane, Low Road and Thwaite Gate
Night-time road closures
All movements are closed except:
- Inbound (towards Leeds) A639 Wakefield Road to A639 Thwaite Gate
- Traffic to / from Thwaite Lane will be marshalled.
The overnight closures will be in place:
- 9pm on Friday 5 March to 8am on Saturday 6 March
- 7pm on Saturday 6 March to 9am on Sunday 7 March
- 7pm on Sunday 7 March to 5am on Monday 8 March
Night-time diversions
Same as daytime but will also include: Closure of outbound lane of Pontefract Road from its junction with Thwaite Gate to the BP petrol station.
- Diversion via Queen Street and Wakefield Road
Thwaite Lane
- Access to and from Thwaite Lane will be marshalled
