The Hunslet Club is very saddened to announce the passing of Richie O’Coy after a brave battle with cancer. A dedicated, big hearted, one off club man. Known and loved by so many throughout South Leeds.
It is so hard to come up with the words to describe Richie. He was a true gentleman, a friend to the whole club family. He cared deeply for everyone in his care and championed the underdog in so many ways. He could have you in stitches of laughter and has been an integral part of the clubs success for almost 20 years.
He didn’t let his illness stop him being here and doing what he could and loved. He was brave and dignified to the last, he may have had to give up, but he never gave in.
He truly was one of a kind who touched the lives of many and will be sorely missed by everyone at the club. RIP big guy.
