Next Monday (15 January 2018) sees Beeston hosting a ‘Repair Cafe’ event – for local people to learn, share skills, and get inspired to fix broken stuff, instead of binning it.
The event – free, and open to anyone – will take place at the Hillside Centre on Beeston Road between 6pm and 8pm. Computer, electrical, jewellery, sewing, household, toys, and general repairs all welcome – and the organisers are especially keen on local people with fixing skills to come along and help! Some tools are provided, but please bring your own if you can.
Ed Carlisle, local resident and one of the Leeds Repair Cafe organisers, commented:
“It’s been amazing seeing these Repair Cafe events take off in the city in the past couple of years. People get very enthusiastic – about seeing their broken things get fixed, but also learning new skills, or sharing their skills as they help others. If we can all bring things back to life instead of always having to buy new stuff, we get to save money – and play our part saving the planet too!”
