Presentations to BITMO’s Charities of the Year

Throughout 2016, BITMO raised a total of £600 for the two charities of the year, SLATE Feel Good Furniture Store and the Leeds South & East Foodbank. Raised mainly through raffles held at the Belle Isle Gala, Christmas Party and Christmas Fair, the money was split between the two charities.

Just before Christmas, Wendy Doyle and Amie Thompson from the South & East Leeds Foodbank came to BITMOs Gate to be presented with the cheque by Board members Bev Walker and Julie Liptrot.

Project Manager Wendy thanked BITMO for the donation and said that the money will be used to continue to provide emergency food and meet the needs for people in crisis.

An additional £100 was donated by the Board to help people in crisis during the Christmas period.
SLATE volunteer Eddie Martin was ready with his camera to capture Board members Jean Burton and Margaret Brown, also Lynne Spirrett from BITMO, who presented the cheque for £300 at the store on Hunslet Road.

Eddie travels every day from Horsforth where he lives, to volunteer for SLATE and also at the St Vincents store on York Road. Other volunteers were ready with a warm welcome and a tour of the store.

Volunteer team leader Ann Wilson was delighted with the donation, which will help to pay for a summer seaside trip for the 40 volunteers.

Thanks go to all the companies and individuals who kindly donated raffle prizes, to BITMO Board members for helping to raise the money and to all those in the local community who donated and bought raffle tickets.
