Police appeal for witnesses to Hunslet Morrisons sex assault

West-Yorkshire-PolicePolice are appealing to trace a potential witness to a sexual assault on a 12-year-old girl in a Hunslet supermarket.

A 78-year-old man has been charged in connection with the alleged incident at Morrisons at The Penny Hill Centre, in Church Street, which happened between 4.30pm and 5pm on Monday, June 2.

Detective Constable Laura Dovey, of Leeds District Safeguarding Unit, said:

“The girl was shopping with her mother who was just out of her view at the time of the alleged offence in the yoghurt aisle of the supermarket. She reported seeing a woman who may have witnessed the incident. She was described as tanned, aged in her early forties, with brown hair in a bobbed style and dressed all in black.

“I would like to speak to that person if they recognise themselves from the description and the time and date or from anyone who thinks they know who it might be.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 2171 Dovey at Elland Road via 101.
