Police appeal after Cottingley estate arson attacks

Police are appealing for witnesses following a series of suspected arson incidents on the Cottingley Hall estate.

West Yorkshire Police logoDetectives from City and Holbeck CID would like to speak to anyone who has information about a number of car and bin fires set in the area overnight between Friday August 3rd and Saturday August 4.

Officers were called in the early hours of Friday following a report three cars had been set on fire and burnt out followed by a subsequent report of a fourth car being attacked following at around 11.30pm on Friday evening.

In the early hours of Saturday officers were also called to a report of a dustbin being set on fire in the bin cupboard of a home.

The offences are being treated as linked and no-one was hurt in the incident

DC Clare Fisher of City and Holbeck CID, said:

“These offences are very unusual for Cottingley and we are urging residents to be vigilant and to contact us with any information to help us find those responsible. Clearly reckless behaviour of this kind will absolutely not be tolerated as the starting of fires such as these can pose obvious risks to residents.”

Anyone who has information should contact DC 4159 Clare Fisher or DC 3517 David McKean on the 101 number.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
